Our funeral home was built in 1918 as a family residence. It became a funeral home in the mid 1940’s when Howard “Dutch” Schultz and Arden Thalacker purchased the building and operated it as the Schultz-Thalacker Funeral Home. In 1970, Thomas Steinhaus purchased the business and operated it as the Steinhaus Funeral Home. Robert “Pody” Illinski became a partner in the business in 1989. The current owners, Nathan and Heidi Holly purchased the business on April 1, 2002 and have been operating under Steinhaus-Holly Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
The building has had several renovations and additions throughout the years but has maintained a warm and intimate atmosphere. We truly have kept the feeling of “HOME” in funeral home. The funeral home is located in a residential neighborhood on a corner lot close to the main streets of Westfield. It has a nice yard with many large trees providing shade, therefore, making it the perfect place to gather during a visitation. The staircase, archways and woodwork are original features of the inside. The funeral home can seat over 100 people and is handicap accessible.
The Holly family resides in the residence that was added on in the 1970’s. This allows them to be readily available at all hours to provide the immediate service that families deserve.
