William Peterson

William "Chubby" J. Peterson, age 71 of Montello, passed away following a courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at Montello Care Center. He was born on March 19, 1937 in Oconto Falls, WI, son of the late Magnus and Hazel (George) Peterson. Bill married Elsie (Griffin) Burg on October 18, 1969, she preceded him in death on December 23, 2002. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Bill was an avid hunter, fisherman and an all around sportsman.
Survivors include four step children, Jerome, Thomas and Jim Burg and Jacky Kraft; eight step grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; two sisters, Sadie Driggs, Oconto Falls, Fern Bennett, CA; one brother, Robert Peterson, CA; two sisters in law, Carol Peterson, Oconto Falls, Janice Peterson, Grafton; special friend, Mary (Gary) Hooyman, Westfield; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bill was preceded in death by four brothers, Marvin, Miles, Lester and Gerald Peterson; one sister, Mary Jean Edlebech.
A graveside inurnment service for Bill will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at 12:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery, Oconto Falls, WI with Rev. Diane Fite officiating and with full military honors.
