Virginia York

Biography Virginia Ruth York, age 85 of Westfield, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at Divine Savior Hospital. She was born on December 9, 1929 in Endeavor to Francis and Frieda (Vegland) McMillen. Virginia grew up in Endeavor and graduated from Endeavor High School. It was there where she met the love of her life, Douglas J. York. They were married on April 30, 1949 in Briggsville and together they raised six children. Douglas preceded her in death on November 22, 1998. Virginia worked at Brakebush Brothers for 22 years.

Survivors include her six children, Mickie (Bob) Punjak, Delafield, Marsha (Richard) McKeown, Janesville, Darlene (friend, Greg) Stone, FL, Diane (friend, Patrick) Thompson, Delafield, Debra (Dave) Timm, Delafield and James (Robin) York, Montello; 13 grandchildren, Kimberly (Chad), Mark (Amber), Jill (Andy), Michele, Taylor, Jessica, Stacey (Dan), Jennifer (Ronnie), Jacob, Kerilyn (Kevin),Jasper, Sherri (Jeff) and Douglas (friend, Heather); Grandma Cookie loved her ten great grandchildren, Kamryn, Kenzi, Connor, Abigail, Brexton, Sienna, John, Elora, Tyler, Dawson and one on the way; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who were like family to her. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters and five brothers.

A memorial service for Virginia will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Steinhaus-Holly Funeral Home of Westfield. A luncheon will be held following the service. A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Endeavor at a later date.
