Virginia Janke

Virginia C. Janke, age 90 formerly of Oxford, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2009 at Haack’s Assisted Living, Sun Prairie. She was born on May 1, 1918 in Eland, Shawano County, WI, daughter of the late Dewey and Clara (Mayo) Parfitt. Virginia was an elementary school teacher for 4 years in Green Bay and in Eland. She married Arnold L. Janke on June 14, 1945 in Wittenberg, WI, he preceded her in death on October 31, 1998. Virginia and Arnold farmed on the family farm until they retired in 1980 and then built a new home on a corner of their property. She enjoyed being a homemaker and was an avid quilter and gardener.
Survivors include three children, Murray (Ellaine) Janke, Fall River, Valerie (John) Meyer, Fairhope, AL, Marcia (Dave) Elmer, Sun Prairie; four grandchildren, Barbara, Beverly, Dalin and Jessilene; one great granddaughter, Jordyne; four sisters, Arlene Hill, Menomonee Falls, Joyce (Dale) Wells, CA, Muriel (Norman) Polk, AZ, Kathleen Edwards, AZ; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Esther Krause and Dorothy McWilliams; two brothers, Dr. Leonard and Keith Parfitt.
A funeral service for Virginia will be held on Sunday, February 8, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. at Oxford Seventh Day Adventist Church with Rev. William Ochs officiating. Interment will be in Oxford Village Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 10:30 a.m. until the hour of service at the church.
