Vernon Wahl

Vernon C. Wahl, age 78 of Oxford, passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at Hess Memorial Hospital, Mauston. He was born on August 5, 1928 in Blanchardville, WI, son of the late Benjamin and Marie (Kubly) Wahl. Vernon married Ruth Ann Marie Wildenberg in August of 1950 in Merrimac, WI. He later married Rosemary Jacobson on September 2, 1972 in Portage. Vernon served his country with the United States Marines in the South Pacific. He was a lifetime member of the Neenah Valley VFW Post #6003 of Oxford. Vernon worked for over 30 years as an auto mechanic before retiring from Brakebush Brothers in 1990. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and most of all visiting with family and friends.
Survivors include eight children, Joanne (Larry) Ebert, Portage, Jeanie (Ray) Jahn, Pardeeville, John (Nancy) Wahl, Portage, Karen (Gary) Wahl, Wisconsin Dells, Kenneth Wahl, Portage, Theresa (John) Thompson, CA, Matthew Wahl, Wisconsin Dells and Ross (Jennifer) Wahl, Oxford; nine grandchildren, Margaret (Greg) Phenis, Jacob Ebert, Lance (Amanda) Jahn, Sandy (Kevin) Harding, Erik Wahl, Alecia (Michael) Korn, Carrin Wahl, Bailey and Elizabeth Rose Wahl; four great grandchildren; three sisters, Ruth (George), Helen and Shirley; three brothers, Jerry (Wanda), Frank (Barb) and Richard (Pam); four step children and their families; sister in law, Donna (Harlan) Marsh; special friends, Tom and Carol Tweed; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by one sister, June and six brothers, Quinton, Doral, Benjamin Jr., Robert, Donald and Gene.
A funeral service for Vernon will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2007 at 2:00 PM at Steinhaus-Holly Funeral Home, Westfield with Rev. Carol Hermann officiating. Interment will be in Moundville Cemetery, Township of Moundville, Marquette County with full military honors by Neenah Valley VFW Post #6003 of Oxford. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 12:00 PM until the hour of service at the funeral home.
