Vernon Foat

Vernon Lee Foat, age 76 of Westfield, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2016 in Crystal Lake, IL.

He was born September 2, 1939 in Woodstock, to Raymond and Louise Foat. He married Janet Rounds on December 10, 1975, in Woodstock.

He was an amateur roller skater in McHenry who participated in competitions. He worked most of his life as a produce grocer and retired from Alexander's of Westfield. He enjoyed fishing, western movies and music, repairing small engines at his repair shop, and operating his and Janet's video store J+V Video.

Survivors include his sister, Nancy Nusbaum; five children, Michael Foat, Jeffrey (Linda) Foat, Toni (Jim) Hoy, Candy Foat and Christina Angel; two stepchildren, Ralph (Diane) Rounds and Janet (Timothy) Bieschke; 22 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren; and his nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Janet, his parents, his sister Donna Lewis, his brother Alvin Foat, and his sister Genevieve Foat.

A memorial gathering for Vernon will be held on Friday, February 19, 2016 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Steinhaus-Holly Funeral Home in Westfield.

A visitation and funeral was held on Friday, January 22, 2016 at Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home in Woodstock, IL. Burial was in McHenry County Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to Transitions Hospice, 12040 Raymond Ct, Huntley, IL 60142.
