Verna Marquardt

Biography Verna G. Marquardt (nee Mael), age 78 of Westfield, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2007 following a courageous battle with cancer at Harris Villa, Township of Harris. She was born on February 12, 1928 in Milwaukee, daughter of the late Roy and Laura (Nest) Mael. Verna graduated from West Allis Central High School. She worked for Pritzlaff Hardware in Milwaukee. Following her marriage to Donald Marquardt on October 1, 1949 in West Allis, they made there home in Westfield. After raising her family, Verna worked for the Westfield School District. She was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church, Harrisville and the Ladies Aid. Verna enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing cards, sewing, traveling and especially spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Donald; three children, David (Martha) Marquardt, Harrisville; Donna (Dave) Kallstrom, DeForest and Dawn McLaughlin, Janesville; five grandchildren, Ryan and Cortney Marquardt, Riley, Bailey and Logan McLaughlin; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Vivian (Edmund) Ziemann.
A funeral service for Verna will be held on Friday, January 12, 2007 at 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church, Harrisville with Rev. Robert Fisher officiating. Interment will be in Harrisville Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Friday from 9:00 AM until the hour of service at the church.
