Susan Herman

Susan Gail Herman, age 66 passed away on April 19, 2013 in Stevens Point. Susan was born in Portage, Wisconsin on February 13, 1947, the daughter of Edward Eugene and Gracemary (Waite) Herman.

Susan lived much of her life in Stevens Point with her loving foster family, Mark, Maryvonne, Mark Jr., Shawn, and Christian Hemmrich. Susie loved being around people; always greeting them; always complimenting them. Shopping, especially for jewelry was fun, and she loved animals; cats being her favorite. She enjoyed music, Elvis Presley, and added her voice to any music she heard. And she was a master at putting 1000 piece puzzles together. She was a sweet person, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she came into contact with. When Susie laughed, she lit up the room. She was a joy for so many people.

Susie is survived by her foster parents, Mark and Maryvonne Hemmrich, foster brother, Mark (Miranda) Hemmrich, Jr., foster sister, Shawn (Chad) Hemmrich-Hartman and their son, Lyndon, foster brother, Christian (Kristin) Hemmrich and their sons, Mason and Marcus, sisters, Jean Baerwolf and Barbara Kuehl of Portage, Nancy Herman and Mary Lou Herman of Madison, Carla (Greg) Riesen of Montello, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Gracemary Herman.

A memorial service for Susie will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be in Underhill Cemetery, Town of Packwaukee, Marquette County at a later date as well.

The families of Susie would like to thank the many people of the community of Stevens Point who touched Susie’s life through the years. Thank you to Portage County Health Care Center, Ministry Home Care-Hospice Services, Aurora Community Services, CCPC, and her social workers, Nancy Smith, Sara Janz, Marit Guse, Sue LeGault and all of the care givers who helped to make Susie’s world a better place for her to live in.
