Serena Wachholz

Serena A. Wachholz, age 98, formerly of Westfield, passed away at Evergreen Retirement Communities in Oshkosh on Thursday, June 26, 2014. She was born on June 22, 1916 to the late Richard and Esther (Koechel) Schultz on the family farm in Crystal Lake Township, Wisconsin. Serena attended school in Neshkoro. She worked as a domestic helper for various family members until she moved to Westfield. Serena married Raymond Wachholz on November 25, 1937. Together they worked many years at Brakebush Brothers and Raymond Wachholz Insurance Agency until he preceded her in death in 1975. Serena also served on the Board of Directors for Home Mutual Insurance Company from 1975 to 1976. In 1995, Serena moved to Evergreen Retirement Communities in Oshkosh.

Serena is survived by a sister-in-law, Margaret Schultz of Neenah, a brother-in-law, Donald Neill of Neenah, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: brothers, Norman Schultz, Aaron (Ardis) Schultz; sisters, Edna (Roy) Bushweiler, Verna (Herbert) Metzig, Lila (Morris) Vinz and Dorraine Neill; sisters-in-law, Irene (Arden) Mittelstedt and Evelyn (John) Otto.

A funeral service for Serena will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church, Westfield with Rev. Larry Douma officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the church. Burial will be in Westfield East Cemetery.
