Sandra “Sandy” Kathleen Redding, age 75 of Westfield, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at her home. She was born on April 1, 1941 in Madison to Henry and Lillian (Podell) Schmelzer. Sandy went to California after graduating from Madison East High School in 1959. She married William Redding on September 2, 1959 in Redwood City, CA. They moved back to Madison in 1967. Sandy worked at OHMEDA and then the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the School of Pharmacy-Pharmaceutical Library. While working there she became honorary housemother for the Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity, an honor she truly enjoyed. Later Sandy transferred to Memorial Library. After retiring, she and Bill moved to Westfield. Sandy joined “The Recycled Teenagers”, Harris HCE and St. John Ladies Aid. She loved animals and had many special pets in the course of her lifetime.
Survivors include her husband, Bill; two sons, Wayne, Mukwonago and Mike, Coloma; four grandchildren; one great grandson; other relatives and many friends. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Edward and step daughter, Charlene.
A memorial service for Sandy will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Harrisville with Rev. Blaine Niskanen officiating. A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the church.
