Robert Wade Schaffrath

Robert Wade Schaffrath, age 61 of Madison, went home to the Lord on Monday, November 18, 2024. He was born two months early on November 5, 1963 in Chicago, IL and weighed 2 lbs. 14 oz. Robby spent two months in the hospital and was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. In 1969, Robby and his family moved from Chicago to Westfield, WI. He attended school in Westfield and graduated from Westfield High School. Robby moved to Madison and worked for the Madison School District where he worked with K – 4th grade kids who had learning and physical disabilities. He always stayed in contact with his family and came to family picnics in Westfield. Robby never let his handicap stop him from living a full life. He will be greatly missed.

Robby is survived by his mother, Joanne Schaffrath; siblings, Keith Schaffrath, Toni (Dave) Shoopman, Nicki (John) Lipke, Brian (Marifrances) Schaffrath; longtime special friend, Bert; aunts, step aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Wayne Schaffrath.

A private family gathering will be held.

Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free 

I’m following the path God laid for me. 

I took His hand when I heard Him call 

I turned my back and left it all

My life has been full, I’ve savored much 

Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch 

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief 

Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief 

Lift up your heart and share with me 

God wanted me now, He set me free!
