Robert Walter Kaempfe, age 92, of Westfield passed away on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Harris Villa Assisted Living. Bob was born on April 26, 1929 in Chicago, IL to Henry and Mable (Baker) Kaempfe. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Dorothy (Ted) Gully and his wife of 70 years, Alice Kaempfe. He is survived by his four sons, James (Karen) Augustyn, Robert (Patricia) Kaempfe, William (Jennifer) Kaempfe, and Martin Kaempfe. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Bob resided in Chicago, IL until his retirement from the graphic arts industry as a printer and book binder. After relocating to Westfield in 1979, Bob became an evening custodian at Westfield High School where he worked until his retirement in 1991. Bob and Alice owned and operated “The Greenhouse” on County E east of Westfield from 1985 until the mid ‘90s.
Bob’s involvement in the community included Newton Township Chairmanship from 1989 – 2009, member of the Westfield Community Fire Board during those same years, Newton Volunteer Fire Department, one term on the Marquette County Board, and past president of the Harrisville Lions Club.
Services will be private.
