Robert W. Binder, age 92 of Westfield, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Meriter Hospital in Madison. He was born on December 29, 1925 in Bakersville, WI to Wenzel and Mary (Schifflachner) Binder. Bob’s parents passed away when he was young and he was raised by his foster parents, Albert and Myrtle Semrow. Bob was a WW II veteran, proudly serving in the United States Navy. He married Adeline Kemnitz on June 11, 1949 in Westfield. Bob farmed in the Town of Springfield for 45 years, retiring in 1991. He was a past member of American Legion Post #244 of Westfield. Bob was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Westfield where he served as an Elder and was a member of the Senior Group, Evening Circle and helped with Orphan Grain Train.
Survivors include his two daughters, Diane Binder, Madison and Laurie (Warren) Ottum, Oregon; granddaughter, Alyssa Ottum, Oregon; his church family; other relatives and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 58 years, Adeline; brother, Alfred Binder and his foster parents.
A visitation for Bob will be held on Friday, April 27, 2018 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Westfield followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Gary H. Schultz officiating. Burial will be in Westfield East Cemetery, Westfield with full military honors presented by Westfield Area Veterans Honor Guard.
