Rita Margaret Cacic, age 78 of Packwaukee, WI passed away peacefully at her home with her daughters by her side on Friday, April 9th 2010. Her death was the result of a stroke suffered on March 26th.

She is survived by five children; Kathryn (Mark Meixensperger) Cacic of DeForest, WI, Donna (Dave) Cacic Wissbaum of Pardeeville, WI, Linda Schultz of Poynette, WI, Carol (Kent) Anderson of Savage, MN, and Michael (Kristen) Cacic of East Northport, NY; 12 grandchildren; Donald (Carrie) Schultz, Brian Schultz, Robert Cacic, Nicholas Wissbaum, Deanna Anderson, Heidi Anderson, Heather Wissbaum, Garrett Schultz, Erik Anderson, Cameron Cacic, Rachael Meixensperger, and Luke Cacic; two great-grandchildren; Makayla Schultz and Gavin Schultz; two brothers and a sister; Gerald Polcyn, Charles (Verna) Polcyn, MaryAnn (Richard) Arbeiter and sister-in-law Elizabeth Polcyn. Rita is preceded in death by her husband Donald Cacic, her parents Stephen and Blanche Polcyn, brother Daniel Polcyn and brother James Polcyn.

Rita was born to Stephen and Blanche Polcyn on February 4th, 1932 in Montello, WI. She was the oldest of six children. Rita attended St John the Baptist Catholic grade school, Montello and Montello High School. Rita married Donald Cacic on October 2nd, 1954. During their 50 years of marriage they lived on their farm in Packwaukee where they raised their five children. She worked for the United States Post Office from 1969-1988. Her positions were many and varied from clerk to postmaster.

Rita was an active, hard working, caring person. She was a member of Civil Air Patrol, sang in the choir, was a lector at church, enjoyed attending fly-ins with her husband, and spending time with family and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 16, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Montello with Rev. John Hedrick and Rev. Michael Richel officiating. Internment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Township of Packwaukee. A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 15, 2010 from 4 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary Service being held at 8:00 p.m. at Steinhaus-Holly Funeral Home, Westfield. A visitation will also be held on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service at church.
