Raymond J. Desruisseaux, age 87 of Brookfield, formerly of Westfield, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Silverado Memory Care of Brookfield. He was born on December 30, 1927 in Sanford, Maine to Lucien and MarieJeanne (Lavigne) Desruisseaux. Ray proudly served his country in the United States Army, a WWII vet. He married Doris E. Ahrenholz on July 15, 1950 in Milwaukee. Ray was a member of Painters Local 781. In his painting career, Ray worked as a steeplejack painter, owned his own painting business and worked as a supervisor over a crew of painters at Miller Brewery for 20 years. He was a member of American Legion Post #244 of Westfield and played the “taps” at veteran’s funerals.
Survivors include his wife, Doris; two daughters, Sandi Bronecki (Rick) and Carla Sanfilippo (Nick); sister, Dorothy Chevalier (Maurice) and brother, Roger Desruisseaux (Karen). Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Lucien and MarieJeanne (Lavigne) Desruisseaux; brothers, Renaud and Donald Desruisseaux; sister, Joan Morin and daughter, Renee Beguhl.
A funeral service for Ray will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Westfield with Rev. Gary H. Schultz officiating. Burial will be in Harrisville Cemetery, Town of Harris with full military honors. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service at the church.
