Norman Kemnitz, 68 of Westfield, was carried by angels to heaven on Tuesday, July 25th, 2017 surrounded by his family. Norman was born to the late Harvey and Adeline Kemnitz on November 20th, 1948 in Portage.
Norman was blessed with a large and loving family. He married the love of his life, Debra King, on November 7th, 1973 and together they raised 5 children. God made a farmer out of Norman. Over the years he grew his farm from a 10-cow hobby into to a family business where his entire family (nieces, nephews, children, in-laws, and neighbors) gathered to milk cows, bale hay, drive tractor, feed calves, and learn the value of an honest day’s work and of family. He would do everything he could for anyone. Norman loved the land and all that grew there. He loved watching the crops grow through harvest, the smell of freshly cut hay and caring for his cows. He enjoyed watching the wildlife and especially enjoyed deer hunting. Although he never got the 30-pointer, he sure enjoyed all the stories from everyone that hunted.
Norman was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Westfield. He served as an elder for several years and enjoyed serving the Lord. He devoted his life to his faith and family. His sincere devotion will live on through future generations. When times get tough, family always pulls together, and with faith in God ALL things are possible.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie; his children Amber (Scott) Laurent, Abby (Tyson) Swan, Aric (Pauline) Kemnitz, Alisa Kemnitz (Rich Kee); and Adam (Erikka) Kemnitz; and his grandchildren Emily, Bryanna, Troy, Holly, Brandon, Kypton, Elaina and Adeline; his brother Eugene Kemnitz, many nieces, nephews and extended family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Adeline Kemnitz; his father-in-law, Daniel King; and his brother, Alan Kemnitz.
A visitation and funeral service for Norman will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 210 S. Charles Street, Westfield on Saturday, July 29, 2017. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am followed by a service at 11:00 am with Rev. Gary H. Schultz officiating. Norman will be laid to rest at Pleasant View Cemetery in the Town of Springfield following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Westfield.
