Nora Lee Troia, age 53 of Westfield, died while on a field trip with the Girl Scouts from Westfield on Sunday, May 16, 2010 at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, MN. She was born on August 9, 1956 in Stoughton, the daughter of Wanda Vinje. Nora grew up in the Utica and Cambridge area and graduated from Cambridge High School. On June 21, 1980 she married Joseph J. Troia. Nora worked at Highsmith’s in Fort Atkinson for over 13 years until moving from Cambridge to Westfield in the fall of 1993 where Nora worked at Brakebush Brothers for over 10 years. She was a cook at the Westfield Elementary School for the last three years. Nora was active in Girl Scouts and A.W.A.N.A.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph; three sons, J.J., Mark and Mike Troia; two daughters, Ashley and Jazzy Troia; four grandchildren and many relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her mom, Wanda; son, Anthony Troia; aunts, Betty and Donna Vinje, Janet Schonberger and Phyllis Malm; uncle, Ellery Vinje and both grandparents.
A funeral service for Nora will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. at New Beginnings Christian Community Church, Westfield with Rev. Tom Countryman officiating. Following the traditional service, Nora’s wishes were to be cremated. A dinner will also be held following the service on Thursday at the church. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until the hour of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the family.
