Neale Quinn, age 89, of Westfield, formerly of Madison, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, December 24, 2010, surrounded by his family. He was born on May 30, 1921, in Westfield, one of ten children to Benjamin and Leila (Huber) Quinn. Neale served his country proudly in the U.S. Army in Luzon, Philippines during WW II, in the company K-128 Infantry 32nd Division. Neale married his beloved wife Elda Polinske on November 17, 1946 at the Little Chapel on base at Camp Campbell in the state of Tennessee. They shared 64 wonderful years together, 30 in Madison then returning to their hometown of Westfield, WI. Neale worked 19 years, in the electrical field at Giddings & Lewis (Gisholt) until its closure in Madison then worked as a Mechanical Dispatcher at Oscar Meyer for the next 11 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, fishing and fishing with his wife, children, grandchildren and siblings. Neale was a proud lifetime member of the Westfield VFW Post 8718, holding various positions and instrumental in helping with the construction of the Westfield Veteran’s Memorial. He enjoyed watching baseball and football and wouldn’t miss watching WIAA basketball games. If anyone had ever met Neale, you would have walked away with a smile and a laugh from Neale’s continual humor and jokes.
Neale is survived by his wife Elda, his children and grandchildren, son, Gail (Bonnie) Quinn, grandsons, Travis Quinn, John (Amy) Beyler, Bob Beyler, daughter, Linda (Jim) Nellen, grandchildren, Ted (Linda) Nellen, Tricia Nellen, Angie Nellen, daughter, Kathy (Wayne) Locke, grandchildren, Dr. Bradley Locke (Amber), Cindy Locke (Joe) and Nathan Locke (Ashley), great granddaughters, Jessica (Jake), Megan (Joey) and great-great grandson, Jojo, brothers, Keith (Peggy), Bob (Mary), sisters, Marian Black, Marlene Wenzel, sister in law, Eloise Quinn and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his 19 year old daughter Cindy in 1980, his parents, his brothers, Claire, Ivan, Ellis and Eldon and sister Doris.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 210 S. Charles St., Westfield with Reverend Ron E. Riemer officiating. Interment will follow at the Riverside Cemetery in Lawrence with military graveside services. Visitation will be at the Steinhaus-Holly Funeral Home, 519 S. Charles St., Westfield from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions will be distributed to the Westfield VFW, Immanuel Lutheran Church or Budda Box Fight Against Cancer of Marquette County.
