Mavis A. Murray, age 78 of Montello, passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at HospiceCare in Madison. She was born on June 11, 1929 in Montello, daughter of the late Edwin and Wilma (Jones) Bornick. Mavis married James Murray on May 3, 1952 in Montello, he preceded her in death on December 19, 1991. She worked along side her husband in the family business, Jimmy's Snack Bar, Montello for 40 years. Mavis was a supporter of the American Legion Auxiliary # 351, Montello and Daughters of the Nile. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting, meeting with her coffee clutch group on Monday's and mostly spending time with her family.
Survivors include one daughter, Jan (Jon) Ebert, Montello; one son, Jay (Pam) Murray, Pardeeville; seven grandchildren, Jason (Fran) Ebert, Jeremy Ebert and Jennifer Ebert, Ric Murray, Zachary, Lindsey and Blake Austin; one sister, Shirley (Sherman) Bean; one brother, Robert (Jessie) Bornick; two brothers in law, Keith Valesh and Tom (Betty) Murray; sister in law, Edith Murray; nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by one sister, Jenny Valesh; two sisters in law Isabel (nee Murray) Baxter and Mary (nee Murray) Dixon; brother in law, Mac Murray; nephew, Sherman Keith Bean.
A memorial service for Mavis will be held on Sunday, December 9, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, Montello with Rev. Sue Bryce officiating. Inurnment will be in Montello City Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service at the church. Memorials are appreciated to Trinity United Methodist Church, Montello or a charity of one's choice.
