Mary Jean Christensen, age 79 of Westfield, passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at Tivoli in Portage. Mary Jean was born on June 25, 1938 in Westfield the daughter of Nina Waldo and Marvin Feldman.
Mary Jean graduated from Union High School in Westfield in 1956. She began working at Westfield State Bank in August of 1956. The majority of Mary Jean’s career at the bank was in the accounting department. She saw Westfield State Bank become M&I Bank of Westfield. Mary retired after 37 years from M&I Bank of Menomonee Falls in 1993. During her time with M&I, Mary Jean helped manage many transfers of assets as M&I purchased other branches, and always balanced to the penny. Mary Jean moved back to Westfield in 1993 - she had grandchildren to be near. She was happy to return to live in the home she grew up in. Mary Jean then worked for Kravick Realty as a secretary and worked as a secretary for Northland Home Health for 10 years until she fully retired.
Mary’s greatest joy was her family. She was the oldest child, with 7 brothers and 1 sister, all of them in different families.
In 1958, Mary Jean married Robert A. Christensen and was blessed with two daughters. They later divorced. Her daughters were the most important part of her life, until she had grandchildren to spoil. She was recently blessed with her first great grandchild. Mary was a proud Godmother of Vicki Mulvey. She and Vicki had many adventures together. She also enjoyed her time with her many cousins, nieces and nephews, making each of them feel special. She was MJ, Aunt Mary, and Grandma Mary and GG Mary. Those were the most important titles in her life.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Becky (Bert) Beres, of Westfield; grandchildren, Bailey Beres and Allie (Justin) Mostek; her great granddaughter, Nora Mostek; daughter, Kathy (Rick) Graham, Madison; grandsons, Nathan and Marcus Graham. She is further survived by her sister in law, Shelby Meinke; her sister, Peggy Henderson; brothers, Malcolm (Mary) Meinke, Mark (Gay) Meinke and Paul (Leslie) Schmidt; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nina Heser and Marvin Feldman; grandparents, Vern and Mary Waldo; step father, Ronald Meinke; brothers, Michael & Ronny Meinke; step father, Fred Schmidt Brothers Kirk Schmidt and John Feldmann, and Step Father Fritz Heser.
