Marvin Harold Marquardt of rural Westfield, entered Eternal Life when he passed away at his home on Sunday, October 17, 2010 at the age of 87 years. Marvin was born on August 31, 1923 in the Town of Newton, Marquette County to Albert E. and Pauline H. “Lena” Groskreutz Marquardt. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Town of Newton. Marvin worked on the home farm and also was a milk truck driver for the Shields Creamery.
On November 8, 1947 he was united in marriage to Florence E. Schrank at Cross Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. This union was blessed with two children, Daniel and Gloria. After their marriage they resided in the Town of Harris while Marvin worked for the former Westfield Coop Dairy in Westfield. In 1951, they moved to Milwaukee where they became members of Nazareth Lutheran Church where Marvin served on the Church Council. Marvin was employed at the Borden Company in West Allis for 36 years. While working there, he was a proud member of Teamsters Local 200. In 1987, Marvin and Florence retired and moved to the Town of Newton into their new home. They joined and became active members of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Newton. Marvin served on the Church Council as an Elder-Trustee until his death. He was also a volunteer for the Orphan Grain Train for several years. His favorite hobby was woodworking.
Marvin is survived by his special friend, Marian Floeter; his son, Daniel (Frances) Marquardt of Mukwonago; his daughter, Gloria (John) Rogers of Milwaukee; grandchildren, Dawn Boneck, Daniel (Kerri) Marquardt and Mary (Marquardt) Trudeau; great grandchildren, Mariah Marquardt, Owen Marquardt, Nicholas and Jamie Boneck; his brother, Arlie (Doris) Marquardt; brother in law, Fredrick (Janet) Schrank; uncle, Arden Groskreutz; dear friend, Patti Barth and many other relatives and friends. Marvin was preceded in death by his wife, Florence on November 14, 2005; his parents; an infant brother, Arnold Marquardt; sister, LaVerne (Don) Persack and grandson, Dale Marquardt.
A funeral service for Marvin will be held on Friday, October 22, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Newton with Rev. Ronald Schultz officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 21 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Steinhaus-Holly Funeral Home, Westfield and on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until the hour of service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials are appreciated to St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Newton.
