Margaret Laing

Margaret “Marge” M. Laing, age 95 of Westfield passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at Preston Place in Red Granite surrounded by her family. Marge was born on September 25, 1929 on the rural home farm of her parents, Hugh and Ada (Foat) McGowan in New Chester Township, Adams County. Marge attended Oak Grove Country School and married John Laing on January 24, 1948 in Adams. They were blessed with two children: Larry and Susan.

Margaret enjoyed being outside doing yard work, watching the birds, playing euchre, playing kings corner with the grandkids, bowling, snowmobiling and most of all being around family. Margaret worked at Bob & Jens Family Restaurant, Eubanks Grocery Store and finally retiring from Brakebush Brothers after 23 years.

Survivors include: her daughter, Susan (David) Kopach, daughter-in-law, Sigrid Laing and grandchildren: Michelle (Daniel) Fenske, Jay (Jamie) Laing, Kelly (Jason) Reetz, Kasie Kopach and Kristopher (Sara) Kopach. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Marge is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Larry, great-grandson, Blake Fenske as well as three brothers and three sisters.

The family would like to thank Preston Place and Heartland Hospice for all the care and concern shown to Marge.

Per Margaret’s request, there will be no service.
