Margaret Heeres

Margaret J. Heeres, age 88 of Westfield, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at Divine Savior Hospital in Portage.  She was born on October 4, 1931 in Lincolnwood, IL to Joseph and Anna (Reitz) Thiry.

She married George A. Heeres Sr. on April 19, 1951, George and Margaret had a son George Jr and daughter JoAnn.  George passed away on March 10, 1998. Margaret has resided at Tivoli in Portage for the last three and a half years.

Margaret was a talented seamstress, and loved to knit, providing unique sweaters for her family.  Her favorite flowers were the Amaryllis and Christmas Cactus.  She loved music especially Elvis and loved to dance.  Margaret always showed strong convictions for her beliefs.

Survivors include her two children, George (Gail) Heeres Jr. and JoAnn (Steve) Ahlstrom; eight grandchildren, Margaret (Shannon) Smith, George A Heeres III, Jeremy (Brenda) Ahlstrom, Daniel Ahlstrom, Robert (Carmen) Stempinski, Josef (Justin Nies) Stempinski, Nicholas Ahlstrom, Christopher Ahlstrom; nine great grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn; other relatives and friends.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; step dad, William Schaad; husband, George Sr. and a sister, Jeanette.

Private interment will be at Westfield East Cemetery at a future date.
