Lawrence Baerwald

Lawrence “Larry” Baerwald, age 67 of Oxford, passed away on Monday, May 10, 2010 at the VA Medical Center in Tomah. He was born on January 15, 1943, Portage, son of the late, Delmar and Darlene (Lawrence) Baerwald. Larry married Judith Drew on November 13, 1965, she preceded him in death on August 25, 2003. He proudly served his country during Vietnam with the United States Army. Larry worked at Southwestern Engineers in Berlin as a steel fabricator for 25 years. He was an instructor for the DNR teaching hunter’s education for 25 years. Larry was a member of the Oxford Volunteer Fire Department and Oxford VFW Post #6003 serving as the present commander. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and NASCAR.
Survivors include his daughter, Dawn Baerwald, Oxford; one brother, Karl (Rhonda) Baerwald, AR; two brothers in law, Bill (Jan) Drew, FL and Gary Drew, Oxford; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service for Larry will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Oxford with Rev. Franklin H. Giebel officiating. Interment will be in Oxford Village Cemetery with full military honors. A visitation will be held on Friday, May 14, 2010 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Steinhaus-Holly Funeral Home, Westfield and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Budda Box Fight Against Cancer, Oxford Fire Department or Oxford V.F.W.
