Larry Chester Semrow, age 79 of Ripon, passed away peacefully at his daughters’ home with his family by his side, on Saturday, February 20, 2021 from complications with cancer. Larry was born November 18, 1941 on the family homestead in Newton Township in Westfield, Wisconsin, son of Chester and Gladys (Bittelman) Semrow. Larry attended a country grade school which was named after his family – Semrow School.
Larry generously loved the people that were so close to him and you could feel this love whenever you were around him. He cherished and adored his grandchildren, Taylor, Dexten and Jacob along with daughter, Dana Hielke, son-in-law, Dennis and son, Gavin Semrow. He is also survived by his sister, Mary (Donald) Lange.
Larry was a very simple but yet extremely passionate man. He led his life with his heart and hands. He was an exceptional carpenter that could create a piece of art out of a piece of wood. His passion for carpentry was inherited from his dad and his grandfather’s talents/skills. Larry would make masterpieces in his wood shop. Owning his own carpentry business allowed him to share with others his special skills. If he was not in his wood shop or working for a customer you would probably find him working outside, being as close to nature as he could. He also had a fun side enjoying his cars. Not only did he have a 1929 Model A pickup truck but just this last summer he bought a 2018 Mustang…the Model A truck just did not go fast enough!
A funeral service for Larry will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Crystal Lake, W4104 Deerborn Ave. (corner of Deerborn Ave. & County Rd. Y) with Rev. Blaine Niskanen officiating. Burial will be in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service at the church.
For the safety of everyone, social distancing and masks are recommended in church.
His family would like to thank all their friends and family that so graciously gave support and prayers. We are so grateful for Agnesian Hospice Hope’s sensitivity and understanding. Also, would like to personally thank Alishia Bradley and Laura/Pete Krueger for their care and kindness.
Please take a moment to view the online Tribute Wall. Send your condolences or share a memory of Larry with his family & friends.
