Kevin Pederson

Kevin E. Pederson, age 56 of Westfield, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 28, 2013 at his home. He was born on July 21, 1957 in Madison, SD to Pete and Norma (Johnson) Pederson. Kevin grew up on a farm near Chester, SD. At 17 years of age, Kevin enlisted in the United States Navy and served aboard submarines from 1974-1988. He was discharged honorably in 1988 as a MSC (SS). On one submarine event, Kevin surfaced at the North Pole in October in 1981. He went on to work for the Charleston, SC Naval Hospital Police (PSD). Kevin then went on and worked for the Department of Justice (Bureau of Prisons) from 1990-2010 and then he retired. Kevin married Donna M. Vroman on May 16th, 2006 in Rapid City, SD. Kevin was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. of Oxford and life member and Chaplain of the D.A.V. of Redgranite.

Survivors include his wife, Donna, stepdaughter, Heather Pederson, Oxford, mom, Norma Pederson, SD, two brothers, Randy (Wendy) and Dallas (Laurie), two sisters, Dawn (Bud) Meyer and Kim (Russ) Nelsen and grandmother Jennie Johnson, all of SD, mother-in-law, Sandy Vroman, Wautoma, brother-in-law Gary (Kathy) Vroman, Neshkoro, other relatives and many friends. Kevin was preceded in death by his dad, Pete Pederson, one son, Cody James Pederson, father-in-law, Don Vroman and brother-in-law, Jeff Vroman.

A memorial service for Kevin will be held on Friday, November 1, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Steinhaus-Holly Funeral Home, Westfield with Pastor Terry Temanson officiating. Full military honors will be held following the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Union Cemetery, Wautoma at a later date. A memorial visitation will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
