Kermit O'Neil

Kermit Roy O'Neil, age 86 of Westfield, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, March 13, 2008 at Divine Savior Hospital, Portage. He was born on June 29, 1921 in Westfield, son of the late Roy and Mary (Phillyps) O'Neil. Kermit married Irene Fritz on June 12, 1943. He operated the O'Neil family farm until 1973 and also worked at Speed Queen, Ripon and Applied Power "Jack Plant", Westfield. Kermit enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting, playing cards and especially spending time with family and friends. He loved music and playing saxophone and clarinet in the O'Neil Orchestra.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Irene; one daughter, Diane (Steve) O'Neil-Sachtjen, Cedar Rapids, IA; two granddaughters, Jennifer and Alicia Sachtjen; other relatives and friends.
A funeral service for Kermit will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Westfield with Pastor Joe Adkins and Pastor Rob Bruinooge officiating. Interment will be in Westfield South Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the church.
