Karen A. Erdman, age 64 of Westfield, passed away as the result of Multiple Sclerosis on Monday, November 6, 2006 at Divine Savior Extended Care, Portage. She was born on August 10, 1942 in Portage, daughter of Walter and Thelma (Crawford) Buchholtz. Karen married Ronald E. Erdman on August 24, 1963 in Westfield, he preceded her in death on August 31, 2006. Despite living with Multiple Sclerosis since the age of 20, Karen lived a full and active life. She graduated from St. Mary's School of Radiology as a Radiology Technician. Karen worked for Dean Clinic and then for Dr. Mackey's office before starting a family. She later returned to work for the Westfield Post Office and Alexander's Quality Foods. Karen was an active and faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Westfield which included many years of teaching Sunday school. She also enjoyed reading, bowling and her family.
Survivors include one son, David (Mary) Erdman, Stoughton; one daughter, Kimberly (Les) Crandall, Montello; three grandchildren, Matthew and Carlie Erdman and Haylie Crandall; father, Walter Buchholtz, Westfield; two sisters, Kay (Gary) Muehrer, St. Louis and Mary Beth (James) Riley, Madison; mother in law, Edna Erdman, Montello; four sister in laws, Wilma (James) Guerten, Franklin, Elvera (Alden) Phelps, Stoughton, Janice (Justus) Spillner, Montello, Connie (Fred) Cavanaugh, Grand Marsh; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Karen was also preceded in death by her mother, Thelma Buchholtz and father in law, Ernest Erdman.
A funeral service for Karen will be held on Monday, November 13, 2006 at 11:00 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Westfield with Vicar Ron Riemer officiating. Interment will be in Westfield East Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 12, 2006 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Steinhaus-Holly Funeral Home, Westfield and on Monday at the church from 10:00 AM until the hour of service.
