Julianne Byrne Slowey, age 90 of Westfield, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2013 at Harris Villa Assisted Living in Westfield, Wisconsin. Julie was born to Frank and Ellen (McCabe) Byrne in Edgerton, WI on Dec. 10, 1922. She attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she met Bob Slowey. They married on Nov. 18, 1944 and farmed in the Westfield area. Julie and Bob were instrumental in the growth of Slowey Farms, which remains in business to this day.
Julie loved reading, entertaining, shopping, travel and spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her later years, she was the chief baker for Slowey Farms, keeping all the staff supplied with ginger snap and chocolate chip cookies.
Julie is survived by her children, Sue Stenzel, Tim (Sue) Slowey, Kay (Gary) Nigbor and Joan (Bill) McCartney. She is further survived by 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, her sister, Veronica Stiefvater, sister-in-law, Ruth Byrne and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, son-in-law, Roy Stenzel, parents, brothers, James and Jerald Byrne, sister, Genevieve Fisher and infant grandson, Eric Nigbor.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Julie will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Westfield with Father David Carrano and Father Michael Richel concelebrating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Town of Westfield. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
Julie loved all things Irish. We will all raise a glass to her and a life well-lived!!
