Joseph Adkins

Joseph Mark Adkins, age 69 of Westfield, passed away with his loving family by his side on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at UW Hospital.  He was born on September 15, 1949 in Kansas City, Missouri.  Joe married Patricia Moore on August 23, 1969.  Throughout his life, Joe had a variety of careers but especially enjoyed his work in the medical field and ministry.  Joe, a gentle giant, loved sharing stories and telling jokes.  He also enjoyed reading and watching and playing sports.

Survivors include his wife, Pat; three daughters, Shannon (Larry) Mitchell, Sarah (Ann Shult) Adkins and Katie (Jacob) Ganser; seven grandchildren, Andrew, Taylor, Lara, Joseph, Patrick, Journey and Jazara; siblings, Raymond Alan (Janice) and Marilyn (Jim) Moomey; mother-in-law, Lois Moore; many other relatives and friends.  Joe was preceded in death by his parents; Red and Alice Adkins and his father-in-law, George Moore.

A memorial service for Joe will be held on Friday, October 26, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church in Westfield with Rev. Joan Frost officiating.  A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Steinhaus-Holly Funeral Home in Westfield and at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service on Friday.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Joe’s name.
