John Fox Taylor, age 91 of Roseville, MN, passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Tivoli in Portage, WI where he had resided for the past three years. He was born in Chicago, IL on April 13, 1926, son of Leland G. and Mary Lee (Huber) Taylor. John was raised in Hinsdale, IL. He earned his undergraduate and law degree from UW Madison and it was there he met Katherine Wood, of Two Rivers, WI. John married Katherine in 1950. From 1952-54, he had worked for Dorothy Walker of Portage, then moved to St. Paul, MN where he joined West Publishing as a law editor, until 1991. John was active in local and state politics in the 1960’s and 70’s, and an active supporter of Minnesota Woman’s Consortium, Older Woman’s League, and Planned Parenthood. As a 60 year active member of North Como Presbyterian, he was an elder and oversaw the Meals on Wheels program.
Survivors include his daughter, Virginia (David “Willie”) Dagel, Westfield, WI; two granddaughters, Jennifer (Joshua) Nigbor, Stacey, MN and Elizabeth (Brian) Kiley, Monroe, WI; two great-grandchildren, Grace and Fisher Nigbor; brother in law, Norman (Joann) Wood, Oconomowoc, WI. John was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Katherine; two brothers, Leland (Margaret) Taylor, and Bob (Caroline) Taylor.
A memorial visitation for John will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2017 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Westfield.
A memorial service for John will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Westfield with Pastor Alyson Janke officiating. Inurnment will be in Roselawn Cemetery in Roseville, MN at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Minnesota Woman’s Consortium, 550 Rice St, Saint Paul, MN 55103.
