John D. Daye, age 80 of Westfield, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at Divine Savior Hospital, Portage. He was born on November 7, 1931 in Oxford, WI on the family farm, son of the late Elmer and Esther (Bandt) Daye. J.D. proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Lynette Hoffland on April 16, 1955 in Fennimore, WI. J.D. worked for Speed Queen, Ripon for 15 years and Power Packer, Westfield for 24 years until his retirement in 1996. He was a member of Westfield V.F.W. Post #8718. J.D. loved to hunt, fish and garden. He was a wonderful husband, dad and grandpa and will be truly missed.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Lynette; four children, Michael Daye, Montello, Kevin (Vicki) Daye, Westfield, Stephen (Charlene) Daye, Westfield and Shelley (Dennis) Gray, Montello; four grandchildren, Rachel and Craig Daye and Gavin and Ella Gray; other relatives and friends. J.D. was preceded in death by a son, Mark Daye.
A funeral service for J.D. will be held on Monday, December 5, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at New Beginnings Christian Community Church, Westfield with Pastor Terry Temanson officiating. Burial will be in Westfield East Cemetery with full military honors. A visitation will be held on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to New Beginnings Christian Community Church.
