Biography Jean Ann Thalacker, age 66, passed away on August 5th, 2008 at home in rural Harrisville, WI.
Jean as born February 18, 1942 in Watertown, Wisconsin, the second child of James and Ruth (Hamilton) Fullmer. Jean graduated from Westfield High School in 1960 and from Prospect Hall, Milwaukee in 1963, trained as a medical secretary. She worked at St. Mary’s Hospital, Milwaukee until, on August 10th, 1963, when she married her high school sweetheart Edward Thalacker and they moved to Elkhorn, Wisconsin. There she worked in the Extension office of Walworth County. After 19 years in Elkhorn, the dream of building and living in a rustic log home on the Thalacker farm in Harrisville was realized. During the many years Jean and Ed have lived in rural Harrisville, Jean has worked for the Methodist Church in Montello and in Dr. Robert Crawford’s Dental office in Westfield.
Jean enjoyed a lifetime of working with children, animals and music. She was involved as a trainer in 4-H dog obedience and therapy dog programs, especially the READ (‘Reading Education Assistance Dogs’) program at the Ethel Everhard Memorial Library in Westfield. She was an officer in the Miniature Horse Performance Club for many years. An avid guitarist, Jean gave lessons and performed with area groups, in churches and at weddings. A menagerie of companion animals will miss the loving mistress in their lives. Sharing rural life and nature adventures with her husband, daughter and grandchildren are treasures she held dear. She was an enthusiastic Green Bay Packers fan and claimed to have a direct line to Vince Lombardi.
Jean is survived by her husband of 45 years, Edward Thalacker, her daughter Laura (Bill) Ahrens, granddaughters Rhiannon Lynn and Bronwyn Leigh Ahrens of Montello; sister Mary Hurley of Mississauga, Canada; two brothers, Robert (Peggy) Fullmer of Waukesha, WI, and John (Mary) Fullmer of Waunakee, WI.
