Jack K. Marshall, age 81, of Westfield, WI passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at UW Hospital in Madison. Jack was born in Plainfield, WI on August 29, 1934, the son of the late Ren and Illa (McLaughlin) Marshall. Jack graduated from Westfield High School in 1952 and went on to the "College of Hard Knocks". He farmed on the family farm from 1955 - 1986. On October 8, 1955, Jack married Gayle Hardell at St. John's Lutheran Church in Almond and they just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. He was very active in community and state affairs. He was the Town of Westfield Fire Chief, on the Marquette Co. Zoning Board of Adjustments, a Director for the Marquette Co. Snowmobile Association where he helped to get state funded trails through Marquette County. He also was on the American Dairy Association State Board. While on the board, the decision was made to continue with the World Dairy Expo here in Wisconsin. Also during that time, he was honored to introduce Joanne Cupery, who went on to become Alice in Dairyland. Jack was especially proud to be a Trustee & Benefactor of F. Rogers Constance Memorial Scholarship Fund which also helped with the upkeep of the fairgrounds ballfield. He sold Clay farm equipment and most recently sold advertising for the School Calendar Co. and drove bus for the Westfield School District. Jack has been an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, serving as President & Treasurer. All who knew Jack know how much he loved to tell a story and a joke. No one was ever a stranger. He loved bowling, polka dancing, snowmobiling, farming and especially his family and all the grandchildren's activities.
Jack is survived by his wife: Gayle Marshall, Westfield, WI; his children: Ken (Merlinda) Marshall, Montello, WI; Bob (Brenda Parrell) Marshall, Westfield, WI; Brian (Tammi) Marshall, Westfield, WI; Vicki (Rich) Meinke, Neenah, WI; his 12 grandchildren: Jon Marshall; Marc (Sarah) Marshall; Brooke & Cameron Marshall; Ashley (Tyler) Inda; Brittany (PJ) Zoellner; Brett, Caitlyn & Jackson Marshall; Erica (Scott) Rabehl; Drew & Matt Meinke; his 5 great grandchildren: Stella & Isla Zoellner; Lincoln Inda; Lucy Marshall; Sutton Rabehl; his sister: Mary Jean Obey, Palatine, IL and his ex daughter in law, Carol Marshall. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Vern Marshall.
The Christian Funeral Service will be on Saturday, October 24 at 12 Noon at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Westfield with Reverend William Meier, officiating. Burial will follow in the East Side Cemetery, Westfield. Visitation will be on Friday evening from 4 PM to 8 PM at Immanuel Lutheran Church and also on Saturday morning from 10 AM until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials greatly appreciated to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Orphan Grain Train.
