George Edward Marotz, age 67 of Westfield, passed away with family by his side on July 21, 2006 at the Montello Care Center. He was born on May 22, 1939 in the Town of Newton, son of Edward and Anna (Stark) Marotz. George married the love of his life, Sharen Rodger on March 9, 1963 and resided on the family farm. George will be remembered for many things including his enthusiasm for hunting, playing euchre, working on tractors, listening to polka music, flirting with the nursing staff at Montello Care Center, wearing his to wide variety of hats and socializing with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Sharen (Rodger); three children, Brenda (Bill) Zeck, Third Lake, IL, Jim (Karla) Marotz, Westfield, Sherry (Brad) Subera, Middleton; six grandchildren, Ashley, Katlynn, Dylan, Vincent, Christoph and Arianna; three sisters, Lorena (Al) Gerbitz, Marian Floeter, Elaine (Norb) Judas; three brothers, Reinhold, Leo (Helen), Arden Marotz; sister in law, Lorraine Marotz and many other relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Alfred; brother in law, Dave Floeter; sister in laws, Bernice and Margaret Marotz.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 28, 2006 at 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church, Harrisville with Rev. Robert Fisher officiating. Inurnment will be in St Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Newton at a later date. A visitation will be held on Friday at the church from 9:30 AM until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established. Steinhaus-Holly Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Westfield is serving the family.
