Floyd J. Wasson, age 82 of Westfield, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 13, 1936 in River Falls, WI to Clarence and Edna (Simon) Wasson. Floyd was the 2nd born of 12 children. He graduated from River Falls High School in 1955. Floyd married Vivian Sullivan on November 25, 1961 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Portage. He was a faithful member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Westfield. He enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, storytelling and playing cards. Floyd spent 30 years as a truck driver and five of those years were spent driving with his wife, Vivian. After his retirement, Floyd was a custodian with the Westfield School District.
Floyd is survived by his wife of 57 years, Vivian; two daughters, Gaylene Wasson, Westfield and Sarah (Mike) Semrow, Hancock; one son, Brian (Christine) Wasson, Westfield; nine grandchildren, Suzanne (Jared) Files, Alycia (Seth) Kremer, Thomas (Nicole) Semrow, Alexis (Tyler) Potter, Macy (Brock Clark) Wasson, Jake Wasson, Parker Wasson, Keaton Wasson, Brandon Roeker; eight great grandchildren, Peyton Bolton, Brooke Bolton, Carter Bolton, Ephraim Kremer, Zipporah Kremer, Shaylee Files, Hezekiah Kremer, Siloah Kremer; eight sisters, Patricia Johnson, Jean Borneman, Alice (Charles) Parker, Kathy (Jim) Rognholt, Mary (Harold) Thompson, Rita Abbott, Linda (Dan) Ness, Karen Williams; one brother, Dennis; many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Charlene (Sonny) Hoevel; one brother, Steven E. Wasson; four brothers in law, Sid Johnson, Robert Borneman, Mike Williams and Curt Abbott.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at 12:00 NOON at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Westfield with Father Savio Yerasani and Father James McNamee officiating. Full military honors will be held following the Mass at church. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Steinhaus-Holly Funeral Home in Westfield. Inurnment will be in Westfield East Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
