Eva Kimmel

September 10, 1931 — January 8, 2023

Westfield

Eva Kimmel of Westfield, was a loving wife, mom, grandma, and great-grandma, known best by those who loved her the most as “Oma”. She passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, January 8th, 2023 at the age of 91.

She was born to John and Eva (Fetter) Tillmann in Dusz, Hungary on September 10th, 1931. In March of 1951, at the age of 20, along with her family she immigrated to the United States and settled in Wisconsin. Eva worked at the Trostel Tannery in Milwaukee, where she met and later married the love of her life, Peter Kimmel on July 2, 1960. Together they lovingly raised two children, Hilda and Diane.

Eva loved her time in the outdoors, especially in her yard where you could often find her watering her flowers, helping in the garden or taking a break to watch all of the birds at the feeders. She loved to enjoy the wildlife in the yard, especially her feathered friends, and made sure they were well fed year-round. In addition to enjoying the outdoors at home, another love she had, was her fishing trips with her grandson, Joe. Eva was quite happy when she had a pole in her hand and some fresh bait alongside her.

In addition to the outdoors, one of her greatest joys was the time she spent in her esteemed role as “Oma” with her grandchildren, many loved ones, and the family pets – Hunter and Toby. Her smile lit up the room when she was playing with them, and it was always a joy to hear her laughter with all of their silly antics. Her grandchildren and loved ones will agree, she gave the very best “Oma” hugs, and there was nothing better than when you heard her call you, “Schatzie”. She will be missed dearly by all of those who were so blessed to have her in their lives.

Eva is survived by her two daughters and son-in-law, Hilda & Richard Gundrum and Diane Smith; four grandchildren, Peter Gundrum, Joe Gundrum, Cory Smith (Fiancé Kassandra) and Kayla Smith; four great-grandchildren, Michael, James, Isaac, and Natasha, as well as many others to whom she was a very loved and revered “Oma” – including her favorite furry companions, Hunter and Toby who brought her so much joy and laughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Eva Tillmann, as well as her brothers, Joseph, John and sister, Anna Tillmann.
