Esther E. Marotz, age 92 of Westfield passed away peacefully Friday morning, June 17, 2011 at the Heartland House in Wautoma. Esther was born in the township of Crystal Lake, Marquette County on December 7, 1918 to William and Ida (Schwanke) Gatz. On September 22, 1946 she married Arnold Marotz at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Springfield Township; he preceded her in death on February 20, 1975.
Esther was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Westfield where she served on the Ladies Aid for many years. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, helping others and most of all spending time with her family.
Esther is survived by her three children: Richard (Shirley) of Westfield, Judy (Ed) Peirick of Madison, and Lynette (Gene) Hess of Berlin as well as twelve grandchildren: Diana Hess, Michelle (John) Rockenback, Brian Hess, Daniel (fiancé Tristin Klappauf) Marotz, Rebecca Marotz, Joseph (Ann) Marotz, Emily Marotz, Michael Marotz, Katie Marotz, Megan Marotz, Benjamin (fiancé Jenny Schmitt) Peirick and Rachel Peirick. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren: Noah, Nickolas, Johnathan, Morgan and Abraham as well as niece, Sharon (Tom) Ryan and daughter-in-law, Kathy (Paul) Marotz Frey. Esther is further survived by nieces, nephews, other family members and many dear friends.
Esther is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son John and twin sister Erma.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 20, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Westfield. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Pastor Dale Bahls will preside and burial will follow at Westfield East Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Immanuel Lutheran Church of Westfield.
