Biography Eleanore "Miss Ellie" Moorman Johnson, age 88 of Montello, died peacefully on Friday, August 4, 2006 at Joanie's Home for the Happy Senior, Montello. She was born to Alma Paul on June 13, 1918 in Cleveland, OH. At age 5, she was adopted by Carl Moorman, spouse of Alma Paul Moorman. Eleanore obtained a degree in nursing in 1939. On May 25, 1940, she wed David R. Johnson in Milwaukee. After WW II, she was a volunteer nurse for Amvets at Wood VA Hospital. Throughout her life, Eleanore did volunteer work for her church and community. She was employed by Blue Cross Blue Shield until her retirement and move to Montello.
Eleanore is survived by her four children, Alma "Bunny" Paul, Montello, Jean (Peter) Landgraf, Oxford, David (Barbara) Johnson, Eagle and Peter (Cheryl) Johnson, DeForest; 11 grandchildren, Rachael (George Kaiser) Bass, Westfield, Jessica Hensley, Stevens Point, Peter (Elisa) Landgraf Jr., Westfield, Fredrika (Gary Napralla) Paul, Montello, Heather (Alex) Stefano, Stoughton, Leah (Daniel) Leiss, WA, Amanda (Alan Zurfluh) Paul, Montello, Tarah Johnson, Eagle, Karl (Carrie) Landgraf, Oxford, Samantha Johnson, DeForest and Ian Johnson, DeForest; Ten great grandchildren; one brother, Chuck (Amy) Moorman, LA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David R. Johnson; her parents, Carl and Alma Moorman; father and mother in law, Robert and Gertrude Johnson; sister, Joan Lotzer; brother in law, William Lotzer; sister in law, Dorothy Mueller and son in law, James Paul.
A memorial service for Eleanore and David will be held on Friday, August 11, 2006 at 12:00 noon at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Montello with Msgr. John Hebl officiating. A visitation will be held on Friday at the church from 11:00 AM until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Eleanore's name with St. Agnes Hospital-Hospice Hope, 114 N. Pearl St., Berlin, WI 54923. Steinhaus-Holly Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Westfield is serving the family.
