Eldon W. Wagner, age 85 of Westfield, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Wild Rose Manor. He was born on June 10, 1933 in the Town of Newton, son of the late Walter and Emma (Tagatz) Wagner. Eldon proudly served his country in the United States Army while being stationed in Germany. He married Lavila Weishaar on September 28, 1957 in the Town of Newton. They lived in the Fox Valley area for many years where Eldon also worked for the Soo Line Railroad, retiring as an engineer. Lavila preceded him in death in 2006. Eldon later married Alma (Schrank) Weishaar Mike on June 10, 2011 in Montello. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and American Legion Post 244 of Westfield where he celebrated 60 years of continuous membership in 2016. Eldon enjoyed pulling his Oliver tractor, deer hunting, farm toy shows, the outdoors and keeping a meticulous yard. Family and friends loved visiting with him and his fun sense of humor.
Survivors include his wife, Alma; four step children, Mary (Kenon) Smith, John (Dawn) Weishaar, David (Jolane) Weishaar and Beth Weishaar (Tom Nelson); step grandchildren and great grandchildren; cousins and friends.
A funeral service for Eldon will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Westfield with Rev. Gary H. Schultz officiating. Burial will be in Harrisville Cemetery with full military honors. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church and on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Immanuel Lutheran Church or American Legion Post 244 of Westfield.
