DuWayne Laing

DuWayne Donald Laing, age 81, of Montello, passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2008 at Divine Savior Hospital, Portage. He was born June 29, 1927 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, son of the late Robert and Clara (Kruger) Laing. He married Ruth Harris on September 23, 1967. Ruth passed away on June 25, 1996. Throughout his life he lived in the Coloma, Westfield and Oxford area until he retired to Montello in 2002. His early occupation was a worker on area road construction crews. DuWayne also worked for the F & S Co-op in Oxford and farmed with his wife Ruth until retirement. DuWayne was an avid fan of local stock car races, a good story teller and loved to play cards with his wife Ruth, family and friends.
DuWayne was preceded in death by his step-father Robert Schrank, brother and sister in law, Robert and Edna Laing, sister and brother in law, Lilas and Fred Wenzel and brother in law Ralph Sorenson.
DuWayne is survived by his sister Marjorie (John) Ryskiewicz of Wisconsin Rapids, step-son Noel (Patti) Evans, Marshfield, step grandchildren Kurt (Kasandra) Evans and Sally Evans, step great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and special friend, Valerie Miller.
A funeral service for DuWayne will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Steinhaus-Holly Funeral Home, Westfield with Rev. J. Mark Hensley officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Adams County. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
