Douglas Bittelman

Douglas Charles Bittelman, age 42 of Westfield, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison.  He was born on September 8, 1979 to Charles Bittelman and Renee (nee Wobschal) Bittelman.  Doug graduated from Westfield High School in 1998.  He married the love of his life, Danielle Nitz on June 27, 2020.  Doug worked as a Correctional Officer at CCI in Portage for 21 years and was respected by his many co-workers.

Doug was profoundly proud of his two sons and was always teaching them how to be good young men. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, country music, bonfires and spending time with family and friends. He had a passion for farming which he pursued in his spare time with Uncle Donald, Danielle, Jordan and Emily.  Doug had the biggest heart and will always be remembered for his willingness to help family or anyone else who needed a hand and for lovingly calling everyone Dummy.

Doug is survived by his wife, Danielle; sons, Ryan and Adam; mother and stepfather, Renee and Carl Lietz; sister, Jennifer (Paul) Bevan; brother, Travis (Jessica) Bittelman; brother-in-Law, Jason (Carrie) Nitz; sister-in-Law, Nicki Nitz; step brother, Jim (Tricia) Lietz; step sister, Jenny (Jon Geary) Lietz; nieces and nephews, Brady, Kailey, Tanner, Carson, Jasmine, Kristal and Rorie; numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.  He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Bittelman; paternal grandparents, Gilbert and Adeline Bittelman; maternal grandfather, Robert Wobschal; father and mother-in-law, David and Ellan Nitz.

A visitation for Doug will be held on Sunday, November 7, 2021 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. and on Monday from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Westfield.

A funeral service for Doug will be held on Monday, November 8, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Westfield with Rev. Robert Busse, Rev. Rodney Armon and Rev. Wayne Schwanke officiating.  Burial will be in Westfield East Cemetery.
