Doris Adeline (Reimann) Schwanke, age 95, died at her home in Westfield and went to be with Jesus on Monday, February 28, 2022. She was born in Newton Township to Richard and Sophie (Schoenfeld) Reimann on October 11, 1926.
On February 10, 1945, Doris married Victor Schwanke at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Newton. Together they farmed for 32 years in Harris Township. After selling their farm in November, 1976, the couple moved to Westfield. Doris then worked for Lakeside Farm Implement in Harrisville for the next ten years.
Closest surviving relatives include nephews and nieces, Pastor Wayne (Eileen) Schwanke, Waupaca; Nancy Tennant, DePere; Donna Kohnke, Cambria; Joanne Judas, New London; cousins, Sharon (Orlo) Judas, Princeton; Gary (Diane) Golz, Madison; Donna (Randy) Routman, Sheboygan Falls, Eugene (Michelle) Wedde, Wautoma; Delores Updike, Boscobel; the grandchildren of Doris’ uncle Alfred Reimann; and other extended family and friends. Doris is further survived by her “adopted” family, James and Linda Wachholz, Montello, and their children. Doris was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret in childhood, her parents, a nephew, Eugene Dehling, and her husband, Victor in 1985.
A funeral service for Doris will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Harrisville. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Pastor Blaine Niskanen will preside, and burial will follow at the Harrisville cemetery.
