Donald Marquardt

Donald H. Marquardt, age 91 of Westfield, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Harris Villa Assisted Living in Westfield.  He was born on August 27, 1926 in the Town of Harris to Henry and Lorraine (Thalacker) Marquardt.  Don lived in the Town of Harris and Westfield his entire life, graduating from Westfield High School in 1944.  He married Verna Mael on October 1, 1949 in West Allis.  Don worked for Westfield Dairy for 15 years and as a cattle breeder for 28 years.  Following his retirement, he continued to work as a school bus driver and at Thal Acres Golf Course.  He was a life-long member of St. John Lutheran Church in Harrisville. Don was a charter member of the Harris Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Village of Westfield Volunteer Fire Department from 1954 to 1991 and continued to help cook chicken at the annual chicken barbeque until 2010.  He enjoyed fishing, golfing, bowling, playing cards, bus trips and spending time with his grandchildren.  Don was an avid Packer fan and enjoyed watching all of Wisconsin’s sports teams.  He was proud of being a 14 gallon blood donor.

Survivors include his three children, David (Martha) Marquardt, Harrisville, Donna (Dave) Kallstrom, DeForest and Dawn (Lynn Oyer) McLaughlin, Windsor; five grandchildren, Ryan (Sarah) Marquardt, Cortney (Chad) Herman, Riley (Jenna) McLaughlin, Bailey (Logan Hendrix) McLaughlin and Logan (Megan Collins) McLaughlin; other relatives and friends.  Don was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Verna and sister in law, Vivian (Ed) Ziemann.

A visitation for Don will be held on Friday, January 26, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at St. John Lutheran Church in Harrisville.

A funeral service for Don will be held on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 12:00 noon at St. John Lutheran Church in Harrisville with Rev. Blaine Niskanen officiating.  Burial will be in Harrisville Cemetery.

The Marquardt family would like to thank Nan, Lindsay, Sally and the entire staff at Harris Villa for their TLC and support they gave to Don and family.
