David Bruce Rodger, age 87 of Titusville, FL, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2017 at Parrish Medical Center in Titusville. He was born on July 14, 1930 in Endeavor to John W. Rodger, whose mother immigrated over from Kircaldy, Scotland and Mary (Smith) Rodger.
David received his private pilot’s license at the age of 15. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. Upon leaving the United States Navy, David worked as a test flight engineer for Convair in San Diego, CA and was a missile block house engineer for General Dynamics (GD) at Cape Kennedy/Cape Canaveral Space Center from 1963 -1994 when he retired from GD. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Moose Lodge in Merritt Island, FL and Elks Lodge in Titusville and Cocoa Beach, FL.
Survivors include his son, David B. Rodger Jr., San Diego, CA; three grandchildren, Sarah (Todd) Nation, Terre Haute, IN and their son, Theodore Nation, Kenneth Rodger, Sun City, CA, Daniel (Melissa Carmichael) Rodger, Glendale, AZ and their daughter, Bailee Rodger; special companion, Joan Buchan, Cocoa Beach, FL; numerous nieces, nephews in Wisconsin, Florida, Illinois, South Carolina and Colorado along with other relatives and many friends. David was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jack and Willard Rodger; three sisters, Margaret Hart, Agnes Bakken and Elizabeth Wainwright.
A visitation for David will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Westfield.
A funeral service for David will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Westfield with Rev. Janet Ruark officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Endeavor with full military honors.
