David Raymond

David G. Raymond, age 50 of Montello, passed away following a courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at the Don and Marilyn Anderson Hospice Care Center, Fitchburg. He was born on March 20, 1956 in Portage. David married Vickie Voight on August 27, 1983 in Portage. He had an extreme love of horses, David enjoyed raising and racing them locally. He was an outdoorsman who truly loved his hunting, gardening and farming. His real passion was the game of basketball. This became the passion of his family and friends as seen through his coaching and developing of his children and all who were involved. Many of his friendships evolved through his love of the game.
Survivors include his wife, Vickie; three children, Ben (fiancée, Torrie Smith) Raymond, Madison, Emily Raymond, a student at UW Oshkosh and Katie Raymond, a freshman at Pioneer Westfield High School; one sister, Kay (Phil) Nelson, Endeavor; aunt, Dorothy Naparalla, Montello; father and mother in law, Richard and Marina Voight, Portage; sister in law, Michele (Brian) Foote, Oshkosh; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. David was preceded in death by a brother, Greg Raymond; maternal grandparents, Carl and Alma Sohn; paternal grandparents, Albert and Iva Raymond.
A funeral service for David will be held on Friday, January 5, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, Packwaukee with Rev. Brian Rohde officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Township of Packwaukee. A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2007 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Steinhaus-Holly Funeral Home, Westfield and on Friday from 10:00 AM until the hour of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial in David's name will be established.
