David L. Kloiber, age 69 of Westfield, passed away following an automobile accident on Thursday, July 2, 2009 in Waushara County. He was born on August 9, 1939 in Oshkosh, son of the late Albert Jr. “Gerg” and Gertrude (Menzel) Kloiber. David married Leatrice L. Kloiber on May 2, 1959. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and helping people. David worked at Winnebago Mental Health Institute in the nursing service for 22 years. He served as Union President for 10 years, during which time he served on the Executive Board and Technical Bargaining Unit as the Chairperson. David also worked at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point for 15 years also serving as Union President and other positions for about four years. He served as Town of Springfield Chairperson. David along with his wife Leatrice bought and operated Wood Lake Resort together for more than 7 years with their family.
David was a very loving husband, father and grandfather. Surviving are his three children, Debra (Bill) Steinfort, Dean (Lila) Kloiber and Daniel (Kimberly) Kloiber; four grandchildren, Devin Steinfort, Aron (Amber) Steinfort, Natalie Kloiber and Nathan Kloiber; one great granddaughter, Valkyria Steinfort, all of Coloma; one brother, Gary (Patricia) Kloiber, Tomahawk; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and very good friends. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Leatrice; his younger brother, William Kloiber.
A memorial mass for David will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Westfield with Rev. Michael Richel officiating. Inurnment will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Township of Springfield. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established.
