Darlene Schroeder

Darlene F. Schroeder, age 72 of Oxford, passed away surrounded by her loving family following a courageous battle with cancer on Monday, March 17, 2008 at her home. She was born on December 30, 1935 in Big Springs, WI, daughter of the late Ira and Cora (Bitney) McFaul. Darlene married Gerald Schroeder on October 27, 1956 in Reedsburg. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Darlene and her husband were foster parents for many children for over 27 years. She was a NASCAR fanatic always cheering for Dale Sr. and Dale Jr.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Gerald Sr.; five children, Gerald Schroeder Jr., Lyndon Station, Kenny (Vicki) Schroeder, Nekoosa, Kim (Jim) Schraufnagel, Westfield, Kevin Schroeder, McHenry, IL and Tina (Yogi) Fernandez, Rockford, IL; 11 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one sister, Ida (Stub) Lloyd, Oxford; one brother, John McFaul, Briggsville; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Darlene was preceded in death by two sisters and six brothers.
A funeral service for Darlene will be held on Friday, March 21, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Oxford with Rev. Brian Rohde officiating. Interment will be in Oxford Village Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2008 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Steinhaus-Holly Funeral Home, Westfield and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the church.
