Daniel Dean Weckwerth, age 53, of Las Vegas, continued his journey onward on Thursday, April 24, 2014 after a long and courageous battle with renal cell carcinoma.

Dan began his life adventure on April 26, 1960 in Milwaukee, WI, the son of Duane and Alice (Broderick) Weckwerth. Dan spent his younger years between Milwaukee and Montello, WI before moving to Montello in 1973. He graduated from Montello High School in 1978. During high school he enjoyed golf, drama, forensics, boating and especially fishing with Grandparents Francis and Bernadine Broderick, family gatherings and card playing. Dan graduated from UW-Madison in 1984. He spent time as a radio DJ and became the most listened to DJ in the Madison area. Dan also worked as a hotel manager before moving to Las Vegas in 1989. He was a dealer at several different casinos, including Monte Carlo and Aria. His true pleasure was being with his family and family trips to Disney World, Key West and San Diego, among many other awesome vacations.

Dan will live forever in the hearts of the ones who loved him dearly. Throughout his life, he was a thoughtful son, wonderful brother and brother-in-law, proud uncle, dear godfather, sweet cousin and fun friend who will be remembered for his thoughtful, generous, fun-loving, witty personality and his ever-welcoming smile.

Dan is survived by his parents; his sister, Dr. Tammy Weckwerth; his brother-in-law, Dr. James Pinto; his niece and nephew, Denali and Brody Pinto, and many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends, especially one close and dear friend, Roz Simons.

A celebration of Dan’s life was held in Las Vegas on April 29, 2014. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 12:15 P.M. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Montello with Rev. David Carrano officiating. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 11:00 to 12:00 p.m. at the church. Dan’s request was to be cremated and a private family inurnment will take place at a later date.

To say that Dan will be greatly missed is an understatement. Heaven just got one great guy!
