Christian Johnson Sr

Christian J. Johnson Sr., age 61 of Coloma, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 12, 2016 at Appleton Medical Center. He was born on May 4, 1954 in Ashland, Wisconsin to William and Jean (Kempf) Johnson. Chris graduated from Ashland High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Chris married Carole Jepsen on July 31, 1981 in Schleswig, Iowa. He worked as a communication contractor throughout the United States. Chris also helped rebuild campgrounds, this is what led him and Carole to purchase Coloma Camperland in 1997, retiring in 2006 due to his illness. Chris loved to fly and he felt getting his pilot’s license was one of his greatest achievements.

Survivors include his wife, Carole; two sons, C.J. (Laura) Johnson Jr., Coloma and Matthew Johnson, Moody AFB, Georgia; four grandchildren, Malakai, Skilar, Aidan and Zander; his mom, Jean Johnson, Ashland; one sister, Tina (Bob) Grahek; two brothers, Bill (Brenda) Johnson and Mike (Janice) Johnson; many other relatives and friends. Chris was preceded in death by his father; maternal and paternal grandparents.

A memorial service for Chris will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary United Methodist Church, Coloma with Rev. Min Chea officiating. Full military honors will follow the service at the church. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service.
